CLASS-9-SCIENCE CH-7-MOTION ASSERTION & REASONING

CLASS-9-SCIENCE CH-7-MOTION ASSERTION & REASONING

In each of the following questions two statements are given – one labelled Assertion (A) and the other labelled reason (R). select the correct answer to these questions from the codes (a), (b), (c), and (d) as given below

(a) Both A and B are true, and R is the correct explanation of the assertion.

(b) Both A and R true and R is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

(c) A is true but R is false.

(d)  A is false but R is true.

1 – Assertion:  The distance can never be less the magnitude of displacement.

Reason:  distance covered can never decrease whereas displacement can.

2 – Assertion: if velocity is constant, speed will also be constant.

Reason:  if speed is constant, velocity may or may not be constant.

3 – Assertion: A body in uniform circular motion has constant speed.

Reason: Acceleration is always directed away from the center.

4 – Assertion: A body in motion may have constant speed but variable velocity.

Reason: A body moving with constant velocity may have acceleration.

5 – Assertion: A passenger experiences a jerk backward when the vehicle starts suddenly.

Reason: This is because of inertia of motion.

ANSWER: 1 (a) 2. (b)  3. (c)  4. (d)  5. (c)
