Simple past sentence
साधारण भूतकाल वाक्य
There are two categories of simple past sentence
साधारण भूतकाल वाक्य कि दो कैटेगरी होती है
Category – 1- कैटेगारी – 1
Category – 2 – कैटेगरी -2
Category – 1 – कैटेगरी -1
There are three parts of category one
कैटेगरी वन के भी तीन भाग होते है |
1- When time is not given
जब समय नहीं दिया गया हो \
2- When time is given
जब समय दिया गया हो |
3- When verb is given
जब क्रिया दी गई हो |

पहिचान – वाक्य के अंत में था , थी , थे, आदि शब्द आते है \
Helping verb सहायक क्रिया
Was – With Singular subject एकवचन के साथ
Were – With Plural subject बहुबचन के साथ
Structure of sentence – वाक्य की वनावट
Affirmative sentence-साधारण वाक्य
Subject + was/were + other word
Negative sentence-नकारात्मक वाक्य
Subject + was not/were not + other word
Interrogative sentence-प्रश्नवाचकवाक्य
Was/were + subject + other word?
Interrogative-negative sentence-प्रश्नवाचक नकारात्मक वाक्य
Was/were + subject + not + other word?
Interrogative sentence-प्रश्नवाचकवाक्य
Wh word + was/were + subject + other word?

1. He was at home वह घर पर था |
2. He was not at home वह घर नहीं पर था |
3. was he at home? क्या वह घर पर था?
4. was he not at home? क्या वह घर पर नहीं था?
5. why was he at home? वह घर पर क्यों था?

1.you were at home आप घर पर था |

When time is given
जब समय दिया गया हो
पहिचान – वाक्य के अंत में था , थी , थे , आदि शब्द आते है और समय दिया जाता है
Helping verb सहायक क्रिया
1. Had been – all subject
3. With time we are used – since / for
Affirmative sentence-साधारण वाक्य
subject + had been + other word +since / for +time
Negative sentence-नकारात्मक वाक्य
subject + had not been + other word + since/ for +time
Interrogative sentence-प्रश्नवाचकवाक्य
Had + subject + been + other word + since/ for +time
Interrogative-negative sentence-प्रश्नवाचक नकारात्मक वाक्य
Had + subject + not + been + other word + since/for +time
Interrogative sentence-प्रश्नवाचकवाक्य
Wh word + had+ subject +been + other word + since/ for + time

1.This pen was broken – यह पेन टूट हुआ था |
2. This pen was not broken – यह पेन टूटा हुआ नहीं था |

5. why was this pen broken – यह पेन क्यों टूटा हुआ था?

1. He was sitting on the chair – वह कुर्सी पर बैठा हुआ था |
2. He was not sitting on the chair – वह कुर्सी पर नहीं बैठा हुआ था |
3. was he sitting on the chair – क्या वह कुर्सी पर बैठा हुआ था?
4. was he not sitting on the chair – क्या वह कुर्सी पर नहीं बैठा हुआ था?
5. Why was he sitting on the chair – वह कुर्सी पर क्यों बैठा हुआ था?

1. The door was ajar – दरवाजा आधा खुला हुआ था |
2. The door was not ajar – दरवाजा आधा खुला हुआ नहीं था |
3. was the door ajar – क्या दरवाजा आधा खुला हुआ था?
4. was the door not ajar – क्या दरवाजा आधा खुला हुआ नहीं था?
5. Why was the door ajar- दरवाजा आधा क्यों खुला हुआ था?
6. Why was the door not ajar- दरवाजा आधा क्यों नहीं खुला हुआ था?
Some important special case
Special case 1
1. Interrogative wh subject + was/were + object
2. Interrogative negative wh subject + was/were not + object
Examples – उदाहरण
who was sitting -कौन बैठा हुआ था |
who was not sitting – कौन नहीं बैठा हुआ था |
special case 2
When subject is not given then we start sentence there
जब वाक्य मे कर्ता न दिया गया हुआ है तब हम वाक्य को there से शुरू करते है |
Examples – उदाहरण
A boy was there/there was a boy – एक लड़का था |
There were four boys/four boys were there – चार लड़के थे |
No boy was there/there was no boy – कोई लड़का नहीं था |
There was no boy there – वहा कोई लड़का नहीं था |
